![]() What is a futurist? And, what does it mean for you to be sovereign and free? Dr. Vandana Shiva and I dive deep and unpack these questions on this episode of Catalyst Talks here. Dr. Vandana Shiva has been recognized as one of the most powerful voices of truth in the world. In a time when futurists tell a story based on financial markets, technology trends and a world they wish to see, we actually do have a choice whether we acquiesce to the vision or not. A futurist's vision is predicated on their world view. We can simply choose a different timeline, possibility and notion of reality that fits the world we choose to see instead. This is the difference between destiny and fate. Its all based on worldviews. Fate plays out when we acquiesce to probabilities based on trends- be it in our personal lives or in the collective. Destiny finds her way when we choose possibility over probability. Destiny requires courage, leadership and visionary thinking. Destiny is claimed through sovereign thinking. Sovereignty is a function of knowledge, wisdom, discernment and choice. When we take in the information we hear- as is, like this is the way it's going to be because the market says so, or trends in technology say so-we have a choice to decide if that's true. One might be convinced we don't, but we really do. We have a sovereign choice to determine our destiny. The reports we read and stories we hear about the future of AI and technology are just a critical mass of people agreeing on the way they want the world to go, with a bunch more people acquiescing. Sovereignty is your freedom of choice to see the world a different way.As a sovereign futurist, the future I see is quite different than the one I hear predicted left and right. In fact, it's quite similar to the vision of powerhouse, Dr. Vandana Shiva. She is a legend of truth, a visionary for a healthy world in harmony with each other and nature and in this episode on Catalyst Talks we traverse some pretty mind opening territory. As a transformational leadership coach (attorney) and business alchemist to change agents, I'm on a mission to help leaders speak their truth, live their purpose and create a deeper positive impact for themselves and the world. That's why I had to invite my shero of 25 years, a true catalyst, on the show... to model what it is to be an unstoppable for for good in this world. She's written law in India, she's written international laws on Bio Safety and GMO's. She's taken on Monsanto and issues of biopiracy, intellectual property, environmental justice, regenerative agriculture, seed sovereignty and farmer's rights. Listen to this powerhouse challenge what we think is truth on a whole other level here. Dr. Vandana Shiva: A Legend of Truth on Techno-colonization & Seeds
Vandana Shiva just published a new book ( author of upwards of 20 + books), Reclaiming the Commons: Biodiversity, Traditional Knowledge, and the Rights of Mother Earth. ODE TO SKY As a truth channel... As a concerned Earthkeeper.... As a humble human in awe of our Sky, the commons being trampled upon and raped... Ode to Father Sky.... I was on a drive this weekend (NY) and saw many 5G towers that seemed to come out of nowhere. Stay inside everyone, fear a virus and don't question the ring of death -more than 300 satellites launched in the past few months designed to blanket Earth's orbit beaming high-speed Internet around the world- bouncing off ground and ocean, you and me- and changing the cosmos. Did this happen from 'Stay Home?" There is a multi-dimensional aspect to what is going on. Yes people are affected by this thing called a virus that may not even be a virus. Yes it is affecting people. Yes there is horror. Yet we have become so addicted to linear reasons for everything. Thing is, what is actually going on right now is non-linear, is multi-dimensional and IS happening on many levels. And... the mainstream narrative is so dangerously being pumped with messages of mind control, so stay home and watch the news. Yes I am doing my part. This is something bigger I share- I invite you to learn about mind control techniques through the media in the 1960's. I invite you to learn about the origination of the term ' conspiracy theory.' I invite you to dig deeper. I invite you to find your truth and listen to your inner knowing not only what you BELIEVE is evidence. Evidence my friends, can be manufactured as easily as poof. I worked in a corporate law firm for 7 years on the side defending such 'manufactured' (paid for) studies, kickbacks and all manner of bullshit. Know the source of your evidence, who paid for it and what were they set out to prove and why? *High vibes high vibes inserted here. WHAT HAS ME UP AT NIGHT IS THE FACT THAT ONE MAN and his supporters believe they have the right to disturb the sky for all of us who deem Sky sacred - let alone the scientific reasons why this is most toxic and abominable experiment on EARTH EVER. The fact that 5G satellites were beginning to blanket the sky since November and by February we had more than 300 orbiting the sky is common sense to many as a 'disturbance in the field' that could cause oxygen /lung issues in certain people under the blanket. I'm not saying that is the cause of COVID. I'm saying there is a multi-dimensional aspect to what is going on at this time on the planet and many people are waking up to it. Many people are not aware yet they ARE waking up to it...It's confusing because it's multi-dimensional and if you haven't been operating in this realm, it's hard to discern, articulate and 'see' the one thing you're looking for, the "but for 'a' then 'b', equals 'c'. It's not that linear! Honing our multidimensional muscles of seeing right now is more important than ever! The path there is UNLEASHING THE REAL YOU. If you'd like to talk more about this or how I can help you. There is so much more happening in the invisible. Back to what has me up at night...It is the acquiescence to what Musk his SpaceX and the rest on this path to 5G global domination are doing- the ultimate mind (and all organs) control operation in the history of man on Earth. This is not about serving people with internet so they can download a movie in 10 seconds. It's the race to insert industrial bandwidth and artificial intelligence for the operation of 'smart' everything and square inch-including you. What level of ego gives Musk the right to cultural genocide? Myself, my tribe of earthkeepers and indigenous people around the world know Sky as sacred, as God, as spirit, as cosmic sanctity, as information, as direction. Half the population - FEMALES - bleed with the turning of a moon somewhere clouded in that egomaniac dominant masculine show of power literally lining the night sky. If they disturb the moon, they disturb food and agriculture, and then comes the savior, 'Smart farms' 'Smart food.' They may toss in "Smart Menstruation, Smart Fetuses." ... Now, shall we take back our sovereignty women? Ocean tides move with the same moon somewhere clouded in that disgrace of human potential called Skylink 5G. Awakened ones will see this for what it is... We ALL have the opportunity to awaken now. Let's do this together. Tesla's (the cars) are not about protecting the environment or drawing down carbon, as the feel good branding would have you believe. They are one step to cornering a market on what has been branded "smart" self driving vehicles, and the massive web of the industrial electrification of Earth - the anti divine feminine - dominant masculine control and digitization and ARTIFICIAL intelligence - of the world. There's trillions to be made. And you have a handful of egomaniacs who are driven only by one thing -not even the money- to do what no one has done before, just because, I've had private conversations with such billionaires who are driven by one thing -their literal moonshot. Artificial and Smart vs. Truth and Consciousness --- I do believe we have entered the REAL WORK my friends and I know the latter will win. What you consider progress and what I consider progress may be different based on our perceptions and consciousness. The truth beyond is this... Me imposing my perceptions only withholds you from harming many. Me imposing my perception is only in your best and highest good. You see my perception isn't imposing anything artificial on you. Your perception is causing literal harm to many. -My prayers for deep awakening. Strategies for Being in These Times![]() The Amazon Jungle on fire, Australia bush fires, Coronavirus (bio-weapon gone awry), stock market tanking, dot... dot... dot...we are living in some pretty intense times. How are you coping? (New podcast dropping soon on this with tools for peak wellness) We don't want to be numb, yet have to go on with work, life... the day to day. So we compartmentalize. Yet this causes subtle trauma which becomes our norm. Fear, worry doubt, uncertainty... How do we hold this, transcend and light the way for ourselves, our families and our communities? We are truly being called to a higher purpose in these times. I recently read the C. virus causing China to shut down also reduced carbon emissions by 100 Million Metric tons. Zoom out for a minute...big picture. Earth will self correct. Pollution in China is a huge issue. Nature always self corrects and we are nature. This is merely the beginning of the correction. Zoom back in to your own life. Are you allowing nature / your higher self- to self-correct whatever feels off, awry, needing change, unclear or unfocused for you in your own life? Or are you waiting for the proverbial hit in the head with a 2x4? I've been deep in meditation these days and what's emerged for me as a way of holding this space was a clear message 'be in service with your gifts.' What emerged as a message for us all as a strategy for coping in these times is to "teach what you know and have not been in service to and teach what you have to learn." While not a new concept by any stretch, these times are calling for us to own our power and health and to pool our collective wisdom to catalyze a new world that wants to emerge. It's been more than 6 years...since I've been holding the space I've been called back to. Energy medicine and wellness. I have much to share about our health in these times, best ever supplements and herbs, tools for peak wellness, embodying our higher purpose and unleashing who we really are - these are truly all the same. Our higher purpose is to be in harmony with our bodies, our souls and nature. Pleased to share an invitation for 1:1 sessions for intuitive readings or shamanic energy medicine sessions. Hop over to my here to learn more or to book an intuitive reading when you need guidance in any area of your 'body soul or business', inner insights, higher purpose clarity, coaching, or laser intuitive answers... May our best evolution to emerge.... in the inquiry of: What's yours to do? What's yours to teach? What's yours to hold space for? What do you need in order to step in - all in? And since I have a bunch of new folks here I'd like to introduce myself if we haven't personally met... I'm Stephanie Trager, intuitive coach and soul catalyst, *Earthkeeper, impact strategist, and attorney. My intuitive gifts became apparent when I was seven. There was a time when my linear world of NYC cut throat law and corporate decision making cut me off from myself- the healer, see'er, feeler, and passionate wisdom seeker. I immersed in decades of off the beaten path experiences ..... living and studying with indigenous communities, living off the grid, being chased up close by a mother bear, standing face to face with a mountain lion (more than once)- alone in the woods, working on the front lines of environmental justice, standing with a shotgun to my face, running from an angry logger (who killed my friend) with a chainsaw up a steep mountain slope... 20 years a martial artist deep diving in danger zones in Brazil, being healed of a severe brain injury by a Shuar Shaman in the Ecuadorian Amazon, co-founding a corporate responsibility law firm in the 1990's, coaching superstar change agents for 15+ years in everything from peak wellness, higher purpose, leadership and sustainability (before it was a thing), to business and negotiations, plus holding space as a healer in the domain of the Soul... This journey has shown me one common thing, the key to understanding who we truly are is connecting with nature. Again, we are nature. I am here to connect people to their source, their power, vision and clarity. I am here to connect people to themselves, to nature so they can live a life of higher purpose, deeper meaning and true fulfillment -with impact. And who are you? And what are you here to do? ![]() Stephanie Trager, Esq. HERE ![]() An invitation to your tipping point of transformation. It's time to reset - intentionally and realign, redesign, claim our best lives, embody who we really are and the fullness of our potential. A new decade is coming. Who are you becoming? What are you creating? What are you solving? What's still manifesting (drama, circumstances, challenges) in your life or business, your company, team or the world that you no longer want to tolerate? Your transformation tipping point is the point at which there's no return, you can't unknow what you know. The point where one step off the path and the obvious will smack you in the head with a 2 by 4. No wiggle room for disobeying your soul. The universe will spit your misstep back with admonition. The rewards of staying on the side tipped are priceless. The transformations are incremental and the benefits compounded. You're growth equals exponential potential in all areas of your life- if you remain present. A few years ago on one of my trips to the Amazon in Peru, I was on a boat for about 3 hours, exhausted after 30 hours of travel and sitting in judgement of all the other people on the boat, of everything. It was too hot, too this too that... Really it wasn't. I was just totally out of alignment and ungrounded. We stopped the boat to go check out this gigantic Iron Wood tree and several others disembarked in front of me. All with ease. I stepped off the boat and sunk up to my thighs in mud. What!? Why did that happen to me!? I'm coordinated, athletic and aware. Ha ... What the jungle teaches is 100% presence and alignment. Your thoughts must be in the right place or you will instantly manifest a challenge. It's the perfect obstacle course for spiritual growth. Last year I was in the Amazon in Ecuador and I was hiking in the jungle in Yasuni National Reserve with my Kichua friend (indigenous tribe) Gabrielle, and remembered that episode of sinking in the mud a few years earlier. This time I remained present and in communication with my surroundings, asking permission, feeling out the situation -not just the thoughts in my head and not just whether I wanted to do something, but asking, if the jungle want me to take that step. Communicating with our surroundings and listening to all aspects of the place we are is a powerful key to presence and unlocking our deeper wisdom. I asked Gabrielle if he had an opportunity to stand in front of a board room of very influential decision makers deciding what happens to the jungle, the water, the economy, his health... what would he say? He made the sound of a bird. Then he said when he goes to the forest, before entering if he hears that bird call he knows he will find what he is looking for or what he needs. If he doesn't hear, he doesn't go. That's all he said. I didn't think he knew what a board room was but I know he knew what I was asking. His message was clear. If people listened to nature and responded, asked permission and listened, were present to that which is which most people are ignoring, the world would be a better, safer and healthier place - and we would be happier too. Sometimes we need to unplug, tap in and be present with our higher self. See the higher meaning of our patterns (what lessons to be learned) and be willing to do what it takes to transform, shift and make ourselves available and present for that juicy sweet amazing possibility on the other side of the portal. Commitment to transforming old patterns- however they show up for us- we all have a different narrative - requires believing in the possibility of greatness on the other side. It also requires being intentional about what we are present to. When we move through (without bypassing) we are often confronted with a new set of challenges and uncertainty. This is where we get to grow into a new version of ourselves. It's where we get to embody our next level of purpose. It's not always easy. That's why not everyone walks this path. This is how leaders emerge more powerful, aligned, committed, and conscious than ever before. Sometimes we need to go to nature, and listen to the still living ancient pristine forests, and Indigenous ways of being, humble ourselves, be fully present and receive wisdom for the next evolution of our purpose driven mission.... Because our higher selves are often yearning to remember that we are Indigenous to this earth too. We are of the stars, the planets, the sun, moon, wind and water. We gain strength, wisdom and knowing in nature. And now the invitation to join me in Ecuador on a beautiful journey of Tapping into Our Higher Purpose with the People of the Amazon and Andes. "Conscious Leadership is Sustainability Leadership" ![]() I sat in a grand hall of the New York Public library listening with my regular skeptic in tow (because she's always there to challenge assumptions) as several influential corporate and NGO leaders took to the podium. With an aura of confident and humble elegance, Fieke Sijbesma, CEO of Royal DSM and host of their annual Climate Week NYC event, "It's no longer business as usual," addressed the hall and my skeptic left the room. His guests up next included, Danone CEO, Emmanuel Faber, Henrietta Fore, Executive Director of Unicef, Professor Rebecca Henderson of Harvard Business School and Anne Finucane, Chairman of the board of Bank of America Merrill Lynch Europe. The event was moderated by the brilliant and engaging Vijay Vaitheeswaran from the Economist. My takeaways were plenty, from strategies around employee incentives like bonuses attached to KPIs that include sustainability performance and social impact to the challenges leaders (conscious CEOs) face around operationalizing sustainability in a landscape that may not be ready to embrace real innovation. Another challenge is integrating purpose and a sustainability mindset throughout organizations. Sijbesma said, "You can't force purpose into people." What I loved about this luncheon was the presence of truth and the epitome of conscious leadership. The sustainability, climate, social and governance challenges we face today are front and center and it's going to take conscious leadership to move the dial on solving big world problems. The smoke and mirrors greenwash of yesterday still prevails but it's not everywhere, and it definitely wasn't in the room at DSM's event. In that hall in the New York Public Library, the premise of the book I've been laboring over for the past 3 years hit home. It's time has come. Namely, "Conscious leadership is sustainability leadership." Chief Sustainability Officers should not divert the responsibility of sustainability leadership from the CEO of large companies with global impact. Every leader needs to be indoctrinated with the soft skill of sustainability. Thank you DSM, for holding this reality as a conscious leader. Yes the hard skills of water usage, design and life-cycles, carbon calculations, human rights and law, finance and accounting are all still very grounded in subject matter expertise requiring hard skills that ought to be left to those experts. However, a soft skill of leaders must include sustainability consciousness. My work includes a process I've developed called, "The Sustainability Mindset Shift." It activates this core sustainability soft skill plus the consciousness and mindset needed for leaders to embody it, feel it, think and decide with it. There are biases the collective has formed toward the very words 'sustainability' and 'environment,' and these biases need to be dealt with intentionally. The Sustainability Mindset Shift process does just that. If one can learn executive presence or mindset management, and one can unlock their own purpose, one can certainly awaken the part of themselves that remembers they are nature, the part that remembers they are part of a whole. "You can't force purpose into people," but you can unlock it out of them. You can inculcate a mindset, you can help people know their Souls a little deeper and this is where we unlock sustainability consciousness in people. Leadership development, according to a Training Industry report in 2018 was a $366 billion dollar industry. Yet, the industry has not integrated sustainability as a soft skill in leadership development. (I propose it needs to and I share how in my forthcoming book) One of the assessment tools in my executive coaching and leadership strategy toolbox, The Leadership 360 Profile, maps self-limiting reactive tendencies and leadership behaviors with creative tendencies and behaviors in a complex yet illuminating chart. It goes beyond the benchmarks of leadership capability and effectiveness, to an integrative understanding of the person’s capacity for creative, adaptive and situationally appropriate responses to the leadership challenges that are prevalent in today’s VUCA environment. (VUCA = volatile, uncertain, complex and ambiguous). As we awaken consciousness, grow in our own self-awareness and realize our impact on the 'other' and the whole, we move up the trajectory from ego-centric to reactive, to creative, to integral to unitive. In the higher levels of leadership, integral or conscious leadership, we find sustainability in unison. We see those are the leaders who are accessing sustainability as a soft skill of leadership. It's my life purpose to awaken sustainability consciousness in corporations and the world. To sit in the halls of the New York Public Library during Climate Week in NYC, I marvel at how far we have come. I marvel that 25 years ago I was arrested for saying the same thing. I marvel that we're still so far from where we need to be. I marvel at the opening for all to receive this message and it's time has come, sustainability must be a soft sill in leadership development. The bottom line and reason why it will be a game changer. ... is because sustainabilty, while many things, is also a mindset. Let's schedule a complimentary exploratory strategy call ![]() Impact Activism In an era of impact -social impact entrepreneurs, impact corporate social responsibility initiatives, impact investing, impact and sustainability, impact philanthropy, impact reports, it’s time we add ‘impact activism’ to give her the edge and acceptance she needs and deserves. Greta Thunberg, the young no BS European teen building a global movement and taking the world by storm is busting biases with the pure truth of an activist. A catalytic moment is upon us where people are waking up their own inner activist and not sure where or how to let it unfold. One reason for this is that bias has existed against activism for a long time. Just like bias existed against the very words, ‘sustainability’ ‘green’ and the ‘environment’ (especially in investing) for a long time and they are now 'becoming' evidenced-based opportunities, it’s important we reconcile within ourselves and as a culture where these biases still exist. In 1997 I was a tree-sitter. Then I became a lawyer. (after my friend was killed by a logger) ‘Tree-sitter’ stirs quite the judgement, at least it did before the ‘L’ word gave me some street cred. What I’ve witnessed over the past 22 years since my days of front-line activism- beyond marches but spending weeks alone with a harness sleeping 280 feet up in a 2,000 year-old redwood tree to protect that grove, is an interesting shift in people’s bias towards three words:
These words were met with judgement, stereotypes, and beliefs that so viscerally exuded from faces in mainstream circles it was like a coming out party every time I said, “I’m an environmental activist focused on long term sustainability initiatives.” (circa 1997-2000) How would that be received now? A lot different. The 3 letters, E. S. G. were still in gestation. Akin to women sitting on corporate boards, black CEOs of multi-nationals, and other diversity issues that are fully embraced now (arguably) but in the 70’s and 80’s would cause aghast, biases still exist and are deeply ingrained in our culture. Until we recognize the bias in the bias a certain flavor of activism will only be a white person’s prerogative. Let’s celebrate activism, opportunity for catalytic change and of course the greatness of what Malcolm Gladwell might call an ‘Outlier,’ Greta Thunberg. And let’s be honest, the criminalization of activism is real in communities of color and those who support them. One obvious bias that not many are talking about is why the world accepted Greta (and thank Goddess they are!!) and not the young Takota Iron Eyes, a Lakota Native American, who full stop started a movement that went global to protect Standing Rock from the Dakota Access Pipeline? Why Greta? I think we're not at the point of that reflection yet because the positive force she is stirring is so incredibly necessary and awe-some. One reason why activism has been frowned upon or called out in the past (I've been the curmudgeon in the room for a long time pointing out the obvious) is that activists will readily point out the uncomfortable. We’re still, as a culture, only comfortable with some uncomfortable. We haven’t fully embraced truth and reconciliation. We want to focus on optimism and sometimes, not always, this comes at the expense of truth. If bite size chunks work, great, let’s embrace activism first in a way that is relatable. I am 1000% behind Greta, and I am also a stand for uncovering deeply entrenched biases towards activism, especially among impact inspired sustainability professionals and investors. Bias exists against activism for good reason. It can be dangerous physically. Front line activists are killed with impunity around the world in record numbers. They were also in this country only a few decades ago. I've witnessed children have their eyeballs swabbed with pepper-spray soaked Q-tips. I saw my friend killed by a logger and it was written off as an accident - all in California. According to Global Witness in 2018, 164 documented killings took place of non-violent activists working to protect their rights, land and a clean environment around the world. In the United States 7 states have passed laws that hike up penalties for activists protesting oil and gas pipelines -known as ‘critical infrastructure,’ and at least 6 more states are considering new laws. Thanks to institutional activism, the ACLU and Center for Constitutional Rights are on it. But the danger around activism that must be, and is being, done away with is- reputation. Activism is noble. It's needed and it's time has come. One doesn’t have to be a front-line activist to have an impact. Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, is a wonderful example of an ‘Impact Activist.’ In his own words, “I’m not an activist. I don’t really have the guts to be on the front lines. But I have supported activists ever since a young man gave a slide show in 1972 at a city council meeting in Ventura.” As a ‘tree-sitter’ in 1997 I remember boxes of Patagonia gear coming to supply our work. Climbing, rain and all kinds of back-country gear supplied us in abundance to facilitate our work to protect those ancient groves. Patagonia was pivotal in the movement to protect Headwaters Forest, more than 7,400 acres of old growth redwood habitat. Chouinard most definitely is an activist, an ‘impact activist.’ In the coming years, we’re going to see activism flood the mainstream. Regular folk will put their bodies on the line in front of bulldozers, in front of militia at the border separating babies from their parents, blocking pipelines, whistleblowing big data surveillance ops, or supporting those doing it. More people will have the courage to take a direct stand for what they believe in. And if not on the front line, then through impact activism. Professionals and small business owners have a huge opportunity to direct their work towards impact- a powerful form of activism.‘Impact Activist’ is the (not so) new impact investor or impact entrepreneur. If you’re not cut out for the front line, like Yvon Chouinard, you can still have a direct impact through many creative paths that support activism. Rainforest Action Network, Guerrilla Foundation, and so many organizations support the work of front-line community activists taking a stand for climate justice and humanity. There are now tools to measure impact and the growth of movements. There are myriad ways to get involved personally and professionally, physically or financially. Let’s spread the movement proudly and say, “I’m an Impact Activist.” Impact Activists are also professionals that gear their work toward activism (in its many forms). It's the 'system' in the 'change' that makes it all work. From attorneys, to business advisors, to accountants, to marketing and communications experts, to investors, to scientists and biologists, to entrepreneurs and start ups- to the myriad elements in between. Impact Activism calls for a broad spectrum of change. If finding your voice while aligning your values, purpose and work in the world to have a meaningful and measurable impact is on top of your agenda, please reach out and learn about our Conscious Leadership Mastermind beginning January 2020, and our private coaching and consulting opportunities! Share the truth." Messages like this need some decoding and from my process came two invitations. *Here I am after a 12 mile hike on a 3 day backpacking trip - in the Jefferson Wilderness Area in Oregon. Unplugging made me realize how disconnected technology and the wireless invisible webs have been keeping me. It's becoming harder and harder to experience real quiet and energetic peace, yet here, there were no humans, was no cell, wireless, or any other uninvited energies. On this mountain I was inspired to let you know about these two invitations... One is to share with you the work I'm doing with Dream Change and the Kogi Indigenous People in Colombia, and the other is the launch of the Conscious Leadership Mastermind, for Leaders Fiercely Committed to Improving the World. More on this below... But first... Can I count on you for two things?
The reason why I've asked these two things of you is because we need to raise the bar for how we show up. We need to be keepers of the truth, speak it, share it and no matter how left edge or rabble rousing we seem to others, we need to recognize that the world needs more truth tellers willing to hold their ground and stand up. Our personal and spiritual evolution depends on our willingness to continue to come into alignment with our personal values and our deeper life purpose in all areas of our lives- from the products we buy to the way we do our work in the world, and to how we show up in our relationships. If you're that person who knows you're the mystic, the keen seer of the invisible, the one who 'get's it on a different level - and you're frustrated that you've not yet integrated this level of mastery in your work or how you're fully showing up in your life- then perhaps start the inquiry- "What would it look like if .... ?" Here's an example of why this is so important for your personal evolution, healing and growth (and success) and to the world... Two massive things have hit mainstream media while I was on my walk about:
As someone who's been engaged in the sustainability and corporate responsibility space for decades, seeing the world of finance embrace ESG (movement toward sustainable investment initiatives) I'm the one in the room usually pulling the curtain back to expose the cognitive dissonance. Good over here but not over there... Say we value this but do that.... We can't expect companies to change if we're not willing to tighten up our values alignment and check our own cognitive dissonance. Behind each of these two bits of information are decades of truth needing reconciliation for the transformation or healing of any of us, our economy or our planet. I have much more to say and will be frequenting Facebook with live videos weekly. Please add me as a friend if we're not yet! In the meantime, I've also seen many business owners pounce on the headlines saying, 'Great, I'll change my messaging and positioning to leverage this." And that to me is a low bar for entry. Just like a company, our beliefs and values are born from our worldview, our truth and our ability to connect the dots and be aligned. It's a process I guide clients through all the time and often we're not even aware how out of alignment we really are! Are we willing to challenge what we eat? Look at the ingredients and ask what the heck is that? Are we willing to question the 'smart meter' and 5G and the digital cage we're being locked in that's fraught with surveillance and health questions? Are we willing to ask the questions few are asking and hold space for a true consciousness revolution? It's truly the only way we can change the world. What does this mean for you and me as conscious loving, mindful awakening professionals? It means we're being called to a new level of game changing. We're being called to change the game, not leverage the old game. Take a peak at the Conscious Leadership Mastermind! If you're someone who is fiercely committed to conscious leadership, changing the game and leveraging your influence for more values aligned impact, you may be interested in THE CONSCIOUS LEADERSHIP MASTERMIND - a small group of 4 change agents who are consultants, coaches or leaders of organizations with ripple impact who are on deck for a new level of personal and professional mastery even more in alignment with their values. This past December, I joined the Board of Dream Change, a non-profit founded by John Perkins (also co-founder of the Pachamama Alliance). We exist to spread sustainability consciousness fueled by a life economy with respect for earth honoring practices kept by Indigenous wisdom keepers. We found ourselves with the Kogi this past December learning of their prophecy that we really have very little time to flip the situation. We are too distracted and comfortable in the modern world to realize.... It's so beyond the concept of climate crisis. We're missing half the story because we are not even aware of how much of our own personal sovereignty we've given away. The Kogi remind us. We are their 'younger siblings' because our techno civilization is so young, yet their sustainable ways of knowing and being have made it 4000 years. We have much to learn, yet they too are being wiped off the map- as their sacred places are destroyed. Come to Colombia and be part of our Dream Change Incubator! See yourself bobbing up and down in those waves.. then see below... As the new moon makes her way to our sky, it's the perfect time to pause and ask yourself if your personal support team is up to par. Half of 2019 is already complete and that means, it's intention time! Ask yourself what is not being addressed that needs to shift, where is status quo still status quo? What needs change in your health, mindset, business, professional goals, relationships, inner mastery, physical game, and the like... You know that feeling when you're being called to up your game, shift gears and let go of old patterns that keep showing up in the form of holding you back from shining brighter, bigger and creating the vision you really have for yourself and this life? Sometimes it's not a pattern of holding back, just a nudging feeling that something is next, something is pulling you forward and it's frustrating not to know exactly what it is but we know we have some inner personal work to do before it will be revealed? When we know it's time to pivot and grow the best first step is to ask, "what support do I need?" "Do I have the right people in place who see my blindspots, can ask the right questions, can understand what I care about and can help me stretch to my next big uncertain expanded step?" It's so important to have our personal, spiritual, business & physical support team in place if we're committed to evolving to meet our highest potential. I recently started working with a personal trainer. Never did that. Always had the physical game down. This year it felt harder to motivate myself. Energy was down. (*key phrase: "Never did that") I already had other components of my team- yet my physical strength needed support. I went through a process of letting go of thinking I had to do the physical game on my own since I always had that down. The benefit of getting my ass kicked by Plem, my trainer, positively impacted everything else I was doing. I highly suggest you take a leap and add a "never did that" kind of person to your support team (OR add a never did that so consistently to the team because a session here or there with a helper aint nothing like the real thing-the work. If you're an agent of change here to do bigger things consider your current support team, if you have the right one, or what's missing.... Take-Away: Assemble your personal support team and be honest with yourself about the level of personal growth required to actualize your full potential. Dial in clarity of vision, mission, purpose, strategy, mindset, up your physical game, holistically integrate transformational growth and work through those vulnerable parts so you can open the doors- inside and out- to escalate your impact. Here is what I want to remind you... There is so much more happening in the invisible. So much more unfolding in the non-linear. I have a dear friend experiencing something so incredibly unfair.... by nature of a life path that linked her to someone else's tragedy that continues to unfold as justice is sought. I was writing a book full speed ahead about something so dear to my heart --when a chain of unforeseeable events caused me to pause after returning from a research expedition... *resuming resuming yet... It's not important the details. The point is we are living in an insane world of non-stop comparison and over the top achievement and.... It's easy in the pivot, to think you 'should' do one thing because of ____________, you fill in your blank. When we think we have this life figured out- when our purpose for being is bigger than we can see (and i don't mean 1M followers on social media- I mean just being, our role in some string of unforeseeable events - that lead to something else important in the time-space continuum)- and we can't quite piece it all together in the now- in the middle of the thickets- Here's what I like to do.... ==> Step back and surrender. ==> Ask, what could this be calling forth from me? ==> Am I supposed to pivot? ==> Am I supposed to do anything else that's not obvious? ==> What do I care about most? ==> What energy is surrounding this thing that isn't mine? Have I taken it on? ==> Am I listening to my inner guidance (or higher power) or am I listening to fear? ==> What is my next best step? 20 Years Ago? When you look back at your life - say 20 years ago- would you have been able to see the windy path that got you here? Would you see how all the dots connect as you see it now? Trust in the beauty of this journey even more. Success in life and business look very different from different angles, lenses and perceptions. Are you seeing through the lens of your soul, your heart your identity or trying really hard to fit some other picture? Today embrace the non-linear and sink into the wonder of what is next! Support in the Pivot I help folks move through all aspects of their pivots. (connect here) I was in a pivot and while I was traversing it here's what happened.... There is a methodology in the book I'm writing that I use in my consulting work. Well, if I had gotten that book and my writing out faster then I may not have been beaten to it by Deloitte! My idea -not fully actualized - may not have been accessed from the universal bank of ideas- The bank that houses ideas that want to be used, launched, done, actualized. You know that idea you've had that you don't act on then you see someone launch it right to success. Ideas want to be actualized or they go back to the idea bank for someone else to take out. Wow was I blown away to see my whole methodology on Deloitte's website! So I surrendered and asked, "What else do I need to look at here?" Ok... nuff chanting... let's ride forward....If you're in a pivot and are sitting on ideas, what's really being asked? Is it the right time to step back and navigate or is it the right time to move forward? Maybe a deep dive will help you align with your answer. If you'd like support at any stage of your potential pivot calling, please reach out for a convo. Because the world needs us to 'vot' now (the clearer other side of the "Pi" in "Pi-vot) so we can get all hands on deck and reign in this ship! Intentionally, ![]() Stephanie Trager, Esq. Helping change agents leverage their influence in this rapidly changing world! Connet on social: LinkediN facebook twitter www.stephanietrager.com PIVOT? s@stephanietrager.com Principal, Trager Law PLLC /// www.tragerlaw.net These days most people I surround myself with consider themselves Change Agents. We're in such a defining moment in the world, where serious crisis on climate, geo-political risk, reputation, social culture, human rights and all the everything in between is up for defining, aligning and totally re-envisioning. The future is one of purpose, values, sustainability, conscious leadership and new ways of approaching old problems. We are in the 4th Industrial Revolution, the time of the 6th Extinction, the Time of the Black Jaguar,... whatever you call it... we are in a time of change. We need conscious leaders with respect for life and commitment to a life generating economy willing to hold space for these rapid changes. If you consider yourself a Change Agent, then maybe the following 5 tools can be of use for you. 1. Master Non-Linear Thinking 2. Challenge Assumptions 3. Courage to Go Against the Status Quo 4. Take Risks 5. Inspire People to Follow in Respect 1. MASTER NON-LINEAR THINKING Most people in society today, in our companies, institutions, governing bodies and professional services industries see, listen and understand through linear perception. Conscious leaders connect more dots, see how things are related, can follow a thread of futuristic possibility because they're not only tapped into a linear way of 'seeing' but also the non-linear. Non-linear thinking is less obvious. You have to see around corners and trust in your own discernment. You have to position your non-linear thinking in a way that communicates it linearly so people grasp your vision and can ground it through their own lens. Generally we need linear causal arguments to prove everything. The business case comes from the head not the heart and our perception is skewed toward assumptions that have been made by our collective about how everything works. Often our assumptions are based on marketing and positioning by powerful engines that have directed our economy and thinking in a certain direction for centuries. And this forms our worldview. Change Agents have a holistic perspective, see the bigger picture, connect the dots on causation that may in fact, not appear linear but instead are born from a state of perceiving the not so obvious, non-linear. To solve many of our global crisis' today in the context of business and economic growth, we must be willing to leap into the unknown and seek for new solutions. It's often a non-linear way of thinking about systems change that will help us find solutions to problems we don't even know we have yet. What if 'when' we evolve to another level of consciousness we will finally see this and it will be too late? Change Agents are often futurists. In other words they see possibilities the collective doesn't yet see. Change Agents use their non-linear perception to stay one leg ahead of the game and trust their abilities to know what is true while taking a stand for it no matter what. The good news is, non-linear thinking can be taught, honed, and unlocked in all of us. 2. CHALLENGE ASSUMPTIONS Change Agents challenge assumptions, disrupt old ways of doing things when they see a better way that improves the lot for all and are committed to unwrapping the gifts in their own biases. Change Agents recognize the assumptions, beliefs and biased notions upon which our society and economy were built and are quick to challenge these assumptions without threatening others who don't see it. In fact Change Agents are often seeking out their own biases because they know any slant in vantage point is a disadvantage without viewing the situation from all vantage points. The competitive edge comes when we can see a situation from various perspectives and take responsibility for our own biases. Change Agents will always gently call out a bias when they see one. A skilled Agent can deliver the message gracefully and invite the 'other' to feel safe in exploring the possibility of truth in said bias. In other words humility is a great gift of the Change Agent, as well as conscious communications. Change agents deploy a certain choice of words and language that eases others into thinking and accepting the challenge to question their own assumptions about the problems we are dealing with and the opportunities that could exist that others aren't seeing. Change Agents in a certain industry or organization enjoy collaborating with external Change Agents. With deep commitment to disrupting the status quo, Change Agents are humble enough to realize an external perspective may be needed to probe deeply enough to disrupt even their own assumptions. I personally enjoy when mine are challenged! When we expand outside of our assumptions, we evolve one notch higher on the consciousness spectrum. 3. GO AGAINST THE STATUS QUO The status quo is laced with biases, be them racial, gender, environmental, political, or categorically something else. I can't tell you how many people would call me a hippy because I was an environmental activist. What is that about? Very far from true, yet this is a stereotype and the connotation lends itself to a bias. The notion that ESG investing or Impact Investing means a lower return is a bias. Stereotypes and biases are unfortunately what adorn the status quo. Biases are gifts wrapped with opportunity when we are willing to see, really see the situation with a non-linear lens. It creates an opening for healing and a safe space to own personal responsibility. A bias is a set of beliefs about a person, or type of person, an issue or situation that is reflexive and not often anchored in personal experience, but a belief system that was passed on and is not necessarily based in reality. Biases are potentially toxic, harmful and have detrimental impacts on all of us, when we are not collectively open to challenging them. When we challenge them, we accept change. Change is scary for many people that's why we hang on to things that no longer serve us. Hence, the Change Agent is tasked with guiding individuals and the collective through a transformation and must be optimistic, honest, and courageous in a way that engages others through conscious influence. Through conscious leadership, a Change Agent models the transformational nature of respect. Respect on all levels is often a shock to the status quo. Sometimes a Change Agent has to be okay with recognizing that the world may not be ready for what they have to say. So we plant seeds, hold space and sit back and watch as others start to say what you've been saying for years, as if they had an epiphany. Divine timing is just part of the process. Change Agents must be persistent and agile as well as experts at surrendering -to the non-linear way things sometimes unfold. What happens when we take responsibility for our beliefs, biases and complicity in the status quo? We expand our consciousness and ability to perceive other possibilities, solutions and opportunities to advance transformation on many otherwise seemingly impossible issues to solve. What this expansive scope gives us, is an empowered, creative, compassionate understanding of why others see things the way they do. To challenge the status quo without barking our beliefs down someone's throat, we need to listen, hear, and perceive where the 'other' is coming from and be willing to stay true to what we believe even if it goes against the status quo. 4. RISKS BEAT THE PAIN OF FAILURE As a Change Agent you likely have an area or cause that speaks most powerfully to you. You're also good at connecting the dots and seeing how the issue at hand impacts a whole host of other issues. When faced with speaking up, putting yourself out there, telling your truth, going against the grain, taking a leap, launching bigger, getting the help you need to at least take the leap, you'll risk money, time, energy and reputation because you know you can't go wrong if you're truly acting from your heart- (I recommend always checking in with the mind!) And you know the change you wish to see has to happen no matter what. You'll risk the pain of failure, the fall out from speaking truth to power, and the uncertain path that lies ahead when you follow your mission because you know it's not really failure, only one step on the path toward the success and transformation you are a stand for. 5. INSPIRE OTHERS TO FOLLOW Even if you personally don't have the capacity, resources or mindset to scale the change, you as a Change Agent wish to see, you have a role to play. By speaking your truth, causing others to think and challenge assumptions in a conscious and non threatening or judgmental way, you may inspire another to lead a movement that changes the world. Change Agents are the action takers as well as the catalysts behind the scenes who set the stage, strategy and agenda, who write, speak, teach, and hold space for other possibilities. Some Change Agents are the ideationists, (idea people), others are the activists (action takers), others are the silent healers that prime the landscape for the massive paradigm shift we are actually already experiencing. Don't believe the marketing hype of what a 'Change Agent' looks like. Many of us are Guerrilla Change Agents, undercover on assignment and no one would even know. True sustainability is not an appendage, a bandaid, a fix or marketing strategy. It's not a compartmentalized part of the mind or silo'd part of an organization. We've all had our awakening moments. Mine was 1995. When was your 'sustainability ah ha moment?' Within the paradox, no going back: When you've sat in the hut of an Indigenous (Achuar) medicine man in the middle of the most pristine jungle landscape and experienced instantaneous healing from a life threatening illness only to learn the next day this place was sold by Ecuador to a foreign mining company and a few years later you receive confirmation the magical vortex that saved you is now a copper mine, something is instilled inside of you that won't go away. When no 'advanced modern' method could help you for 2.5 years of struggle and pain, and ancient wisdom is what heals you, in a powerful energized virgin forest sitting upon a bed of activated copper resting deep in Earth in the Amazon Jungle, something inside of you knows we as humans have lost our way and are missing a huge opportunity to see the world through a more holistic lens. Copper is used in renewable energy. It will continue to be sought, people moved or disproportionately impacted, nature mined, water polluted, roads built, ecosystems damaged, forests cleared, people displaced and culturally harmed, and traditional knowledge lost.
And yes the benefits of copper are undoubtedly necessary in our world today. And so is the wisdom of our ancient counterparts, our brothers and sisters who live close to the land, with a deep understanding of traditional knowledge, wisdom we in the current economic paradigm have lost as we've learned and adapted to only modern ways. How do we define sustainable development? “Development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs” (World Commission on Environment and Development, 1987)
True sustainability needs to balance the definition of those in resource (currency) scarcity with the definition of those who are resource rich including countries (leaders with wealth and power) and companies and marketers who are currently declaring the narrative. What is true now:

I just had a birthday and I'm celebrating... a new integration, an emergence, a new me. We're always being given an opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate our growth. Sometime we're in the middle and we're juggling with joy and bouncing from one ball to the next and other times it's messy and confusing and we see it as a "battle." When we shift how we see the challenge and see it-- perhaps as an evolution through a right of passage --and actually call it that, it changes how we 'hold' it and thus the outcomes change too. We evolve, a new level of consciousness becomes available and we're the hero not the victim of our journey. As conscious leaders -we inspire those around us to walk with this perception and soon the culture shifts. When you've felt stuck around some big point of uncertainty, unknown or confusion, have you ever asked yourself for support? Yes yes, outside support is important. And..... we all have the answers to our deepest questions inside of us. We can access if we take the time to inquire. What question about life or purpose are you pondering? See below at the bottom of this email for a step by step exercise to assist in accessing this part of you that knows. It's innate and you know ...and sometimes we're too busy to remember. As we move through our growth edges, challenges, deep questions, inner inquiries and personal (and professional) growth journeys-- it's a beautiful thing to acknowledge the growth and keep the inquiry going with our highest self. Trick is ...we do this when things feel hard and we're struggling and when things are good. We continue to do the inner work and we hold this bar high for those around us. For confidentiality let's call said exec, Maya. Maya said (paraphrased), "We need to tackle our environmental and human rights policy and the truth is, most people still fear it will negatively impact the short term." The next morning at the gym I was speaking to a friend, Dale, who works in finance It was the day after I returned from the Amazon in Ecuador, where I was in and around Yasuni National Reserve, a stunning place scientifically proven to be one of the most biodiverse places on the planet. This part of the Amazon Rainforest is still home to several un-contacted Indigenous Tribes. I saw massive disruption. The former president of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, in 2007, attempted to protect this area and created the Yasuni-ITT Land Trust. The idea was that the international community would have to fork over 3.6 billion dollars into the fund and the government would agree to keep oil and mining and other extractive industries out in perpetuity. The world failed to support this worthy cause and Correa announced Yasuni would be "liquidated." Unfortunately we missed a great opportunity to protect an axis of balance we have yet to understand on our globe. What happened next? VORACIOUS POUNCE FOR OIL About five years ago, like flies descending on a watermelon left out over night, Chinese (and some other) oil companies in collusion with Petroamazonas, Ecuador's state owned oil company, began to devour block after block inside the delicate Yasuni National Reserve. The American company, Texaco (now Chevron), long gone from Ecuador, had already explored the territory and staked out the oil blocks decades ago. I was just there. There is no rule of law. It's the wild wild west. Sewage is unapologetically flushed straight into the river, untreated. Pipelines everywhere, no monitoring, just overwhelmingly zero law or regulatory enforcement. Spills happen regularly, right into the rivers. Are we are all complicit? Human rights, environmental and corruption issues plague this once gorgeous piece of earth and her few remaining indigenous wisdom keepers. I got to speaking with Dale at the gym and he was proudly telling me about his oil operations in Papua New Guinea. He's into all kinds of business opportunities and has a small operation, way outside of the public eye in Papua New Guinea and in Colombia. When I asked what kinds of human rights and environmental guidelines he is following he assured me they are being really good to the people next to them and his lawyer told him they're within the law. What does that mean when there is no rule of law in the place you operate? His neighbors, he said, love them because they are 'really good to them'. "What? We paid them for the land." Dale said. "How much?" I asked. He took a sharp right turn and added, "We gave them things they never had." When I asked what kind of 'things,' "Did you buy them a truck?" Toys do not compensate for the level of disruption and takings committed by small (or large) oil explorers. In fact Dale was pissed when I asked him if he considered himself a colonizer. It is a paradox of profoundly misguided trust. Some Indigenous groups have no idea what pollution even is. They can't foresee what will happen in 20 years as a result of oil drilling (and operations) now. I saw this first hand in Ecuador. *Michael Cepek's book, "Life in Oil" (2018), outlines exactly what this 'looks' like to a community who drinks and bathes in water with petroleum visibly floating in its midst. It's complex and the impacts are within, and well outside of our linear understanding. I wasn't judging or insulting Dale. As a Change Agent, I just speak truth and challenge us all to take responsibility. We are at a point in our climate delicate journey that anything less is a form of collusion. And yes, there is a conscious 'way' to go about this truth speaking and I share it below in the 5 Indispensable Tools of the Change Agent. ![]() Dale and I got into it. I asked, "Have you heard of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs)? The UN Global Compact? The Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous People? Have you heard of the UN Sustainable Development Goals? Do you even know what OPEC is? (Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries). Do you care about these people?" Well Dale got all in a twizzle. Then he said, "I have 2 daughters. I have to make money. You can't do good and make money." CONSCIOUS LEADERSHIP Paul Polman, CEO of Unilever who also holds various governing positions in change agent organizations including the UN Global Compact, spoke at the PRI in Person 2018 event (UN Supported Principles for Responsible Investment) in California at the same time the Global Climate Action Summit was underway. Most would agree, Polman models what it is to be a certified Change Agent. He is the quintessential example of an authentic conscious leader who truly understands the complexities of de-carbonizing our economy. He knows we, for the first time ever, possess the tools to transform to a sustainable world, to end poverty, give access to healthcare and education to the most marginalized on our planet, protect the environment, institute the rule of law and shy away from corruption, create conscious companies and consumers that don't take pleasure in buying a t-shirt for $1 because they know it was made with slave or child labor. Polman knows we are missing only one thing. "We have never been so forewarned... and the key missing element is will power." VORACIOUS CHANGE AGENTS Change Agents have the will to "challenge assumptions" instead of going along with the status quo. This is one of the superpowers of a Change Agent, challenging people like Dale and Maya's executive team's assumptions, that you can't do well by doing good. The cliche of 'Do Good' in its marketing power, is outnumbering true believers. We say it, but how many TRULY believe it? The 2018 Corporate Benchmark on Business & Human Rights shows how behind we are in embedding our 'do good' dogma and proves that more people believe what Dale believes than what Paul Polman knows.
In fact there is still a strange separation between the idea of protecting the 'axis of balance' in biodiverse environments, resource extraction, over consumption and climate change. So many times I see the pandemic of climate change couched in a way that would lead people to believe that renewable energy will save the day. It's one, just one piece of the puzzle. What do we do to CHANGE THIS? *Exponentially empower Change Agents to lead with voracity using these: 5 Indispensable Tools of a Change Agent... I believe we all have it in us to create change. We all are here on the planet at this time to play our part. First we recognize we are or want to be a Change Agent. Then we learn to own our strengths toward this end. We take steps to fill in the gaps and master the following: 5 INDISPENSABLE TOOLS OF A CHANGE AGENT 1. Master Non-Linear Thinking 2. Make People Think & Challenge Assumptions 3. Courage to Go Against the Status Quo 4. Take Risks, Your Cause is More Important than The Pain of Failure 5. Inspire People to Follow 1. MASTER NON-LINEAR THINKING Most people in society today, in our companies, institutions, governing bodies and professional services industries see, listen and understand while only using their power of linear perception. We need linear causal arguments to prove everything. The business case comes from the head not the heart and our perception is skewed toward assumptions that have been made by our collective about how everything works. Often our assumptions are based on marketing and positioning by powerful lobbies and engines that have directed our economy and thinking in a certain direction for centuries. And this forms our worldview. Change Agents have a holistic perspective, see the bigger picture, connect the dots on causation that may in fact, not appear linear but instead are born from a state of perceiving the not so obvious, non-linear. Change Agents are often futurists. In other words they see things as they are about to unfold, see other possibilities the collective doesn't yet see, and they believe in their ability to know such possibilities are real. Change Agents use their non-linear perception to stay one leg ahead of the game and trust their abilities to know what is true while taking a stand for it no matter what. In other words, never believe in 'One Single Story." Great Ted Talk by Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche, HERE 2. CHALLENGE ASSUMPTION and MAKE PEOPLE THINK Change Agents challenge assumptions, disrupt possibilities and are committed to unrapping the gifts in their own biases. Change Agents recognize the assumptions, beliefs and biased notions upon which our society and economy were built and are quick to challenge these assumptions without threatening others who don't see it. You'll risk the pain of failure because you know it's not really failure, only one step on the path toward the success and transformation you are a stand for. CHOOSE CONSCIOUS WORDS Whatever your calling and however loud you can speak, take a stand for your cause no matter what. Stay in alignment with what you believe, be congruent. Challenge assumptions. Know there is so much more happening in the invisible, perceive the non-linear and know that most people don't. This puts you at a competitive advantage. Play your cards right, practice non-judgment and choose conscious words to convey your message so that you touch people's hearts. How we speak is so important to galvanize change. I learned this one early on and continue to challenge myself to be more inclusive and compassionate in how I 'see' and communicate. LASTLY.... There is very little that is inherently bad. For example, oil extraction is not inherently bad. It is just largely done through corruption, exploitation, lack of understanding of the natural landscape and the non-linear (of course along with the obvious) impacts of drilling, lack of proper consultation and respect for local and Indigenous people, environmental injustice, lack of remediation or restoration, and mind you dumping poisons and sewage straight into waterways is plain irresponsible. Plus now we know we have a little over carbonization problem going on. We have been captivated under a spell believing the paradigm of our world is the only way to do things, just one story. We need Conscious Change Agents because we need to recognize new possibilities for solving real world challenges while taking responsibility for our collusion in a system that is built on exploitation. We have to be ok owning this as true and not feel attacked or wrong, just inspired and open for challenging the possibility paradigm. As a Change Agent I believe systemically there is another way and it begins with our personal growth. ![]() Stephanie Trager, Esq. It's what real influence is all about. If you're watching the news, headlines or are part of the fray in the United States, you may be as stunned as me. There is an undeniable friction and toxic spill in the collective consciousness. To sum it up, we're watching the integrity of our highest Court be smeared with the psychic trauma of women that hangs heavy right now-- from the fog of a very real present and very long history. Here's what we ALL (men and women) can do in an effort to clean up the spill and thrive in our own purpose driven mission - because we must all continue with our goodness with even more voracity than before. Let's look at 'CONSCIOUSNESS' for a minute. Wisdom is the beautiful underpinning of consciousness. Conscious leadership, conscious communications, conscious anything comes with an awareness of the whole. It comes with a deep inner connection to something bigger than 'me' and it recognizes and acknowledges the impact of every word and every ounce of energy in our presence. I work with all different types of people in various business environments, NGOs to politics to entrepreneurs, to c-suite leaders and boards, as well as folks with a vision to do their own purpose driven dream and the biggest driver of success - and impact- is not an ego driven quest for money or power. It's a deep desire for wisdom. Wisdom? When we taste the icing of wisdom we know that's where the fountain of prosperity is, the epic undercurrent that feeds us the right words to use in the right moment, for the right positioning for the right partnerships for the right action. Yes we all have needs and sometimes it's money to pay the bills, other times it's to get out of a toxic environment or make a change and our first inclination is survival. And it's in these moments when our commitment is to serve something greater, our mission, our caring desire to change something outside of ourselves, that the prosperity comes, the wins roll in, and the opportunities align. Our world is changing fast. While the toxic spill in the US government (this is factual not partisan) is running rampant, we do have some amazing humans holding wisdom and conscious ground. While we do have environmental and human rights devastation and health and education inequality, we do have an incredible force unleashing for good in this world - on a scale we have never seen before. We must all harness our conscious words and intentions to focus on good, create our impact from right where we are and choose to elevate the conversation. Our anger and frustration will not sell (oh do i know this one well -humble bow). Our desperation can only win if channeled to solve the problem, not your problem. I had the honor to hear Dr. Jim Yong Kim, President of the World Bank Group speak at a luncheon last week hosted by Royal DSM. He has changed the direction of the World Bank in an admirable way. Wisdom and intelligence are different things. This leader has both. He said what changed the way their organization approached finance in the urgent face of climate change and a commitment to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals was this little huge idea: "Stop trying to solve your problem and start solving THE problem" So I leave this with you today... As we go through this week, with our business goals, to do list, frustrations and anger at a world gone mad, and lots of little challenges that come along the way- step back, close your eyes and pause. Discern your problem and THE problem and ponder how your problem will actually be solved if you aim to solve THE problem. I wrote this piece on LinkedIn about our Supreme Court Justice and *Kavanaugh debacle. My problem is perhaps that I have a story from high school too. #metoo THE problem is environmental, social and governance justice in the US and the integrity of the Supreme Court. It's short, you can read it here and I'd love if you comment and share your thoughts. Conscious Communications Instead PS. I shared part of this on Facebook and here's what someone said... "Really Stephanie? If someone accuses you with no corroboration and you absolutely don’t remember doing it you’d say I guess there’s some chance I did it? Really? You’d do that? I wouldn’t." I invite you to read the LinkedIn article and answer for yourself - in this situation- how would we use conscious communications instead? We always win with conscious communications. Always. It's what real influence is all about. Have purpose driven mission that needs a boost? Need some winning with conscious communications? Let's talk -Click Here ![]() Stephanie Trager, Esq. Ever play that tape in your head? ![]() I know this story because I lived and live it. I play this tape all too often and I am closer than ever to fulfilling my destiny. We all are. Because a minute ago we were just a little further away. Let's face it, we're all trying to fit into a box even when we're not. What if the key to fitting in the box is to recognize the box is not the right shape and standing outside is part of the picture. The only way to stand outside (would love a good diagram right now) is to have confidence that you have the right to, you will survive, you may thrive and that everyone out there is just making it up, until they're not. The only time I've ever felt aligned in success is when I've stepped outside the box and done life my way. A way that is inspired from my heart, passion and commitment. My work is intimate. I get close to my clients, understand their deepest desires, their fears and their yearning to actualize their Soul's Agenda for this lifetime. I feel their deep craving to have it all organized and done, to be measuring the impact already. This yearning to be there with a sense of not there yet. Confidence connects us to our inner power that doesn't play that tape, it stays focused and moves toward the target. I've learned in my own journey that my journey is different than everyone else's and guess what, so is yours. We're all unique and we're not really meant to fit into this society because honestly, it is quite broken. We're meant to disrupt the paradigm, change the game, stand on the soap box and speak our truth. The ONE THING- that holds back some as others soar is CONFIDENCE. Confidence is many things, a complex web of interconnected subconscious programs, conscious stories, beliefs, mindsets and understandings about the world. Having deep relationships with people who have played the roles of economic hitman, who have directly been responsible for globalized imperialism, who run companies and governments and make decisions daily that affect the fate of many, I've come to know one thing and one key thing we all need to learn very seriously- CONFIDENCE. These folks pulling big strings, making big impacts - and in my opinion not of the best kind- have a level of confidence in their mission, in themselves and in how things work that they don't have to be right, they don't need approval. They do their mission and they do because they believe they can. Period. Confidence corrupts and confidence heals. We need more confident healers restoring the world, regenerating the economy, closing the loop on waste and stopping the pillage of our natural world which disproportionately impacts vulnerable people who never benefit from the pillage. What would a flaming heap of no hold back uninhibited confidence do for you today? What about this week? What's it worth to you to increase your confidence? What's it worth to you to make that impact? If this is at all resonating then I encourage you to find your way to the confidence fountain today. Who can you reach out to? Do you have someone who will give you that boost consistently? We all need to be reminded that the worst problems we have in our world came about because someone had the confidence to make it up, lead it forward and cross some boundaries on the way. Why not you and your worthy mission? I'm heading to Ecuador and Colombia this fall for a research and collaborative expedition. You see, Indigenous people in the Amazon are dealing with vast exploitation. Their land and cultural existence is at stake. As already so many have been blown the impact of oil and mineral extraction and mining on their lands and those remaining need our support. Imagine the world is our body. The equatorial belt is a critical band that houses immense biodiversity and it's all up for the taking, auctioned off (the story under the story* see below) as prepaid concessions to pay back massive debt these countries have been blackmailed into. I"m not a conspiracy theorist. I'm a historian, factualist and futurist. All the data in the world is available to prove what we each want to prove. Those with the most confidence speak theirs as truth. I'm excited to go and experience truth first hand- unfortunately again. And share with you positive solutions we're working on to build a sustainable just and beautiful world for the common good. In the meantime.... ![]() ✔ Dream big because the world needs your big dreams! ✔ Confidence corrupts and confidence heals. When was the last time someone told you they wish they had that 'thing' you have?
That 'thing' that lights up a room, makes people want to listen to you, look at you, be next to you, and listen to what you have to say? That 'thing,' is an unnamable energy that signals to me, that you are someone with information I need and perhaps I ought to respond with action. That 'thing' is INFLUENCE. Influence is the capacity to have an effect on something or someone. In Robert Caldini's popular book, "Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion" we learn all sorts of mechanisms for moving another's position to align with our own. Tactics and strategies for overcoming another's will are great to know, yet when I teach influence and the 'Art of Persuasion' I also include another methodology. Let's face it, we are living in a time where clashing world views makes it challenging to persuade others' to align with our agenda when it comes to sustainability, human rights, environmental protection and social issues. While more and more companies assign sustainability to a C-Suite role, it is questionable whether they are empowered with a budget and authority to make the significant organizational changes required to implement cutting edge ideas, theories, innovations and strategies. While there is no doubt that sustainability, ESG (environmental, social and governance factors in the private equity world) and corporate social responsibility (CSR) professionals need more than ever to make a solid business case for their agenda, what's equally important is to boost their essential skills like influence, persuasive communications, confidence, resilience, visioning, strategic thinking, empathy, intuition and a certain kind of mindset. The mindset needed to achieve the UN Sustainable Development Goals and future proof business is one of entitled disruption. We're living in a paradigm that perpetuates itself through entitlement because we've collectively accepted the business systems and models we believe are the glue holding together the fabric of our economy. We know these systems are changing. Entitled disruption is a mindset of owning the power to change our world for the better in a way that is in the best and highest good of all. When world views clash- who's notion of best and highest good wins? This is where influence comes in. To be an entitled disruptor who understands the imperative, we need to be armed with a powerful dose of influence, be able to persuasively communicate and be highly intuitive leaders. Here are 4 tips for getting started. 1. Master Your Inner Power The art of inner power means you're sourcing your knowledge, your position and your strategy from a place beyond your ego. Inner power is synonymous with confidence. Sometimes we source our power from fear, lack, ego or a need beyond the cause at hand. Things hardly work out. When we're grounded in inner power, we are sourcing from our 'Why' which is most often bigger and more purposeful than our fear. More often from here, things work out. It's also really easy to give our power away when we're the sole voice for an agenda that requires more than proof beyond a reasonable doubt. Grounding in your inner power helps you pivot to regain leadership in a conversation which is super important to being seen as a credible thought leader and change agent. Inner Power is essential to moving our initiatives forward at the Board and C-Suite level. While it is imperative to know and stay anchored in the 'business case' and C-Suite language of your company or organization, mastering YOUR art of inner power is key to empowering true change among all stakeholders in the value chain. 2. Influential Presence Presence is an invisible energy that emits from us through our expressions, our body language, our emotional and mental state, and our level of confidence and certainty in any given moment. We've all felt the energy of someone who enters a room or addresses us and their presence is notable. Presence includes being present in the moment as in - a way to show up in the now. Presence also includes an energy, vibe or feeling generated as a result of your physical presence in a space. To master the art of presence we need to be good at observing ourselves (self aware), feeling what others feel as a result of our presence (empathy), listening to ourselves and acknowledging how others respond or react to us (intentional). When I teach the art of presence, in my Influence modules, one area we focus on is 'reading' others. If we want to have a certain impact with our presence, ie. engage, enamor, inspire, delight, enroll others, we have to begin by studying the current state of our impact. One place to start is to ask, "How did that person feel as a result of my being there (just being, not speaking)?" You may even want to ask people how they 'experience' you. 3. The Art of Intuition and Awareness Intuition and awareness stem from mindfulness. Being aware of the invisible, the unspoken, the unseen gives a leg up when we're seeking buy in, engagement and enrollment in our mission. When we master the art of intuition and mindfulness- by default we master so much more including persuasive communications, listening, hearing, positioning, and the power of influence. Intuition is a key part of systems thinking, embedding holistic frameworks and understanding how to position our agenda to align with the needs, wants and desires of all stakeholders. Leaders need all senses on deck including this powerful 6th one! 4. Master the Art of Magnetic Attraction Magnetic attraction speaks for itself. Influence at it's core is about wielding a certain force that draws people and things to you. When I coach on magnetic attraction, we engage inner power, presence and intuition to fuel an intention for how we want to 'show up.' Similar to presence, magnetic attraction is about how other's feel as a result of you being present. The difference with magnetic attraction is that the energy is external and about what happens for them as a result. The effect is- a shift that inspires people to jump on board with your vision. Sustainability, ESG and CSR leaders need to master influence, persuasive communications and sales. We're selling a new idea no matter how established and integrated it feels, sustainability and responsible business has not yet won over the economy. It's still largely siloed and needs powerful influencers inside of organizations to master the art of presence, inner power, intuition and magnetic attraction - to gain buyin across all stakeholders including the Board and the C-Suite. There’s a consciousness revolution going on.![]() Last week I attended the Responsible Business Summit in NY hosted by Ethical Corporation. I also attended last year. Both years were impeccable with a host of senior corporate, governmental and international NGO leaders at the helm of unfolding a corporate sustainability and responsible business revolution. Disruption is underway. My key take away this year is- there’s a consciousness revolution going on. Twenty plus years ago I was on the front lines of environmental and social activism which led me to become and attorney- where I focused on international human rights and and then corporate law. What felt like a constant fight for common sense is finally making its way to the norm- at least a movement in the right direction. While things have changed dramatically and we now have the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the UN Sustainable Development Goals, Climate related disclosures and a host of other principled frameworks and standards to guide companies in the right direction, this conversation is still siloed in its own universe. Agenda 21 coming out of Rio in 1992 was a lofty UN Declaration of environmental and social factors to consider while developing the undeveloped world. This skeptic’s playground showed just where the collective consciousness was some 26 years ago. Agenda 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs) agreed to by 193 UN member nations in 2015 offers a totally different opportunity to feed a new wave of consciousness mainstreaming sustainable, ethical and responsible business. Many have worked tirelessly internationally and locally for decades to prepare the groundwork for this swell. More partnerships and collaborative efforts than ever are being inspired by Goal # 17 Partnerships for the Goals (UNSDGs) Hearing Abby Maxman, CEO of Oxfam speak with Mars Global VP of Procurement, Pascal Baltussen was a highlight as they discussed their work together toward Goal #1, No Poverty.
“Sustainability targets and procurement targets must be aligned or CSR is an illusion.” Pascal Baltussen, Global Vice President Procurement, Mars The fact that ESG is now a ‘thing’ is quite remarkable considering a year ago most people in finance I asked never heard of it or said, “I heard of it but don’t know what it is.” This year many more know what ESG is and enthusiastically embrace its positive impact. Private equity institutions and investors are taking a hard stand on corporate disclosures where public policy and reporting requirements fall short. These bodies understand that risks pertaining to the environment and climate change, social justice, human rights, and poor corporate governance from the board to senior management, could pose material risks to their investments -long and short term-and infringe on their fiduciary duty to their clients, -not to mention an evolved stance on "doing the right thing." ESG stands for Environmental, Social and Governance factors. Companies and investor relations teams are being asked to report on non-financial data including ESG factors. The epic collective consciousness shift here is in what’s around the corner. In a few short years ESG, broadscale responsible and impact investing will be mainstream. What does this mean for the economy? How much more innovation is possible? How far are companies willing to go to comply with their own values let alone global standards carrying more weight than law? At the Responsible Business Summit New York we heard from a panel on moving toward a global standard for reporting and how these current frameworks (and others) are collaborating. Tim Mohin, CEO of (GRI) Global Reporting Standard, Richard Howitt, CEO of (IIRC) International Integrated Reporting Council, Matthew Welch, President of SASB and Sinom Messenger, Managing Director of CDSB shared on the collaborative intent of these frameworks, the mission they serve and the outcomes they desire, namely a unified global reporting standard. SASB serves a slightly different function as its focus is on operational risk with respect to financial disclosures. My overall take away from two days packed with panels and keynotes on topics from supply chain transparency, to climate finance, implementing the UNSDGs, diversity and inclusion, communicating CSR, artificial intelligence’s role in the transition, and how partnerships for the global goals are actualizing collaborative win wins for NGOs and corporate stakeholders, --- there is a consciousness revolution going on. The fact that a growing number of corporate boards are now peppered with climate scientists and integrating core ESG factors into their business strategies, is a moonshot from ten years ago. What used to be the domain of general counsel and compliance (or activist shareholders) where law, policy or materiality mandated due diligence, is shifting to a fundamental transformation in business norms and a new economy. These include:
There’s no silver bullet and thousands have been working for decades to arrive at this moment. Many millions will have to continue to unfold a new leadership paradigm of corporate responsibility and regulatory mechanics with respect to environmental, social and economic well-being. What was once a watchdog activist mission is now a lucrative opportunity. This is the collective mindset shift we’ve been waiting for. There is so much more work to do and the good news is, more and more frameworks and standards are coming into place and will ultimately mainstream, streamline and speed up this transition to a better world. And while the good is slowly being anchored, still human rights, environmental justice and economic well-being are grave issues that plague many who are part of supply chains that form our stuff. We must be vigilant and more than anything believe we can create prosperity and financial wins through better service to humanity. This is leadership for a new world. It starts with a mindset shift. If you’re organization is in this shift, and strategy, communications, leadership, mindset, compliance, or deeply embedded corporate responsibility is on the agenda, my firm is ready, able and willing to help accelerate the shift. Are you a thought leader?
If yes keep reading... If you answered no or maybe, then let me ask you this- do you feel inside that you could be if you were just READY? If yes then keep reading... On this International Women's Day I'm honoring the women out there who are waiting to be READY. (men too) Ready is a state of mind. It's a thing we believe we have to be to be who we are. How ridiculous!!! Yet I know it all too well... I know, because I've circled through this conversation with myself a lot. For the past nine years I've been coaching entrepreneurs and executives in mindset, transitions, peak performance and wellness, leadership, communications and business. I'm super passionate about helping others live and express a meaningful life of purpose and fulfillment... AND... that's NOT my thought leadership! My thought leadership combines ALL of that AND my passion for a sustainable and economically, socially and environmentally just world. I'm building my thought leadership in this now AND notice where I'm bumping up against my edges. Thought leadership is scary because we have to be courageous to take a stand for what hasn't necessarily been done or said. When I speak to many of my clients I hear the same thing, "What I have to say is a bit unique but it's not totally new." When we dig in the truth is that positioning yourself as an expert in your field is a great first step to unfolding your thought leadership. I especially love helping thought leaders and experts combine their compartmentalized sections of brilliance to propel their impact, influence and income in a way that feels lucrative and fulfilling. You're likely highly intelligent, (I have many lawyers, executives, engineers, consultants, senior marketing folks, international change agents, evolved healers, sustainability professionals and successful entrepreneurs in my tribe) and you may be working on a book or initiative, new business or venture and you're busy. Busy breeds compartmentalizing - which is a useful skill and is also a blindspot. Blindspots hold us back from seeing what's right under our nose. We all have them. While I'm forging my path, combining my legal mojo and sustainability mission, I still --like the back of my hand-- have this knack for helping other visionary entrepreneurs and executive leaders unlock their purpose, pull out their thought leadership and create their method for delivery and scale and I keep attracting folks wanting this type of support. Soooo... We have to listen to the signs of the universe and I know there are many more out there who feel stuck in the areas I'm going to share below... HOW TO POSITION YOURSELF AS a THOUGHT LEADER OR the GO-to EXPERT in YOUR FIELD Yes you need media, yes you need a marketing strategy - AND first you need the following: When it comes to leveraging your thought leadership, methods or expertise, there are several parts, phases and stages from the vision to execution to scale.... Let me know if this inspires you - speaks to you or entices you to get clear, be ready, and take action. Take note of the 3 different words: POSITION, DELIVER & LEVERAGE -all different and all necessary. How do You DELIVER Your Expertise and LEVERAGE Your Thought Leadership? ==> ☘ YOU have brilliant ideas, a method, a system, a process or special way you deliver your expertise - the results you bring to your clients (individuals and organizations) and the world. ==> You're READY to take it to a whole new level and scale ? ==> ☘ The problem (and opportunity) I see is that so many people are waiting for some moment in the future to be ready to assert their thought leadership -when ready is merely a state of mind. --- I know what if feels like to be bursting at the seems wanting to impact the world! --- ==>? When I help people pull out their thought leadership, they realize they were ready a long time ago. It just needed structure, order and a wizard to help organize it all. ==> ☘ When we create a program or delivery method for their brilliance --to create the result intended, the next level of aha ha becomes available- ==> ? When the program or delivery becomes obvious, (or it's already there) and we create the lucrative business model to reverse engineer the outcome they want, WOW they come alive And another...ah ha! ==> ☘ Then we do some pricing mojo and bam the HOW is real. ⚡⚡ OR let's just say all of this has been done - what's next? ⚡⚡ ==> It's time to ripple the IMPACT. ==>☘ Train others to deliver your thought leadership, your method, your formula, your system - and license them - in other words - CERTIFY OTHERS in your method. Teach them how and spread your thought leadership - your message- and ripple your impact across the world? Why not you? ==> ☘ If you need clarity, strategy, visioning, or a conversation about how you can leverage your talent and scale your impact, let's have a conversation. Whether you're starting or stuck in one of these stages. ==> ☘ We help thought leaders like you, develop each stage and LEVERAGE THEIR TALENT. We go deep and wide and help with every aspect including mindset, creating your method or system, the biz model, pricing strategy, programs and offerings, business development, and even put on our LEGAL HATS to create your contracts, licensing and legal docs... ☄☄ WHERE ARE YOU ON THE SPECTRUM? ==> WHERE DO YOU WANT TO BE? ==> BOOK a COMPLIMENTARY 30 min STRATEGY SESSION <== Just Click this Link ==> Mindset ==> Thought leadership ==> Methodology ==> Your Solution ==> Your Way to Deliver it ==> Results Your Method, System or Formula Provides ==> Ripple Impact by Certifying and Teaching Others Your Method and How to Use it ==> Positioning ==> Scaling for Rapid Growth in Impact, Influence and Income *CAVEAT: If this all sounds like a lot just ignore all the details and just think: Do I want a clear and precise plan, strategy and path toward a six or seven figure revenue stream that allows me to have a GIANT impact in the world? If the money isn't part of this mission for you - then think- do I want a partner (wizard) to accelerate this journey and help me step into this power with grace and ease? Would you agree much has changed in the world of personal development over the past ten years? How about five years? Rapid quantum growth infiltrates every sector including tech, sustainable development, medicine, finance and ESG, corporate social responsibility, dentistry and even sneakers! The world is speeding up-- and so is our personal evolution.
One key ingredient to manifesting and speeding up your own personal evolution when it comes to your purpose driven mission, the social impact you are destined to make, and the financial success that's possible to go with it all- with ease and grace -is BELIEF. Another key ingredient is understanding your emotional currency. Feeling stuck feels more uncomfortable than ever by the sheer gap in speed as the world moves forward. Ten years ago I wonder if you heard of Kale or paid much attention to the art of manifestation or miracles. Ten years ago I was a student of A Course in Miracles. It was 2008 that I finally understood what I started reading in 2001. Have you ever read this text? It's a non-denominational - non religious -scripture. It spells truth in complexity and love. When you read this text, if you BELIEVE it- it is hard to refute how perfectly true it is. Then again, if you BELIEVE anything it's hard to refute how perfectly true it is- unless you're willing to be open to believing even more. So what is it about? A Course in Miracles is about our power as Souls having this human experience. It's about our power as we collectively create an illusion of fear in every aspect of life. Fear of birth, fear of death, fear of standing in the truth of our value, fear of teaching what we have to learn... and the list goes on-. including the astronomical stupidity of this one, "fear of being yourself." (I've suffered from this dis-ease too) This is a sign of the level of disconnect we as a collective have bought into -all of us. And A Course in Miracles is about the truth of love and abundance that is available to us all at all times. This is the miracle. When we don't come from fear (make decisions based on) fear we experience more ease as beautiful humans sharing this beautiful Earth from a place of love and kindness. In this space, nothing is wrong with you or anyone. We're merely attached to our BELIEF that there is something wrong with us and our minds have gotten a bit out of control building fortresses that produce evidence to support this belief. A Course in Miracles sure helped me make sense of a crazy world. I started studying the text and practicing the lessons when I was in law school in Tribeca New York, when it became Ground Zero. I witnessed the entirety of 911 from 4 blocks away and ran for my life as the second tower crumbled in front of me. I had just moved back to New York City from living off the grid in Northern California, in a stunning paradise for six years and here I was in the most chaotic place I could choose. I was in shock. I needed guidance and I needed it 24/7. Using A Course In Miracles I transformed my inner world. How on earth did I write the entire narrative of 911 in my journal that August of 2001, before I left my land in California? How did I know it would happen? How could I learn how to hold the energy of my highly empathic nature and know how to discern, use, understand and leverage this gift (which at many times has felt like a curse I will be honest)? I've spend decades on this journey learning, studying with masters, shamans, medicine men and women from many different cultures to support me on this path. Many events unfolded the week leading up to 911 including that morning on my way downtown at 8:30 am that were undeniably linked to a new level of my awakening and my understanding of this world. We call these things synchronicities or flukes to keep them simple and unattended to. What if you knew you had the power to access different realms of knowing all the time and use this information for your life, your healing, your loved ones, your work and of course your strategic advantage. Our world is not just a linear plane where we experience joy and tragedy, build stuff and create our lives. It's a complex ecosystem of invisible planes waiting for us to awaken to their existence and learn how to work with them. Manipulating energy in these other planes is a gift I've learned to work with (and continue to learn as a student for life) because these other layers have made themselves visible to me and I could no longer deny them their light of day. They are there for you too. So what I"m leading to here is the strategic advantage you have when you learn how to access OTHER perceptual states to manifest miracles. This is not to say our wish is always our command. There are always many forces at play including free will of others and what's truly in our best and highest good. If we need to learn more before we can attain this thing we're working to manifest, our prayers for the thing or experience, will call in opportunities to heal, transform and breakthrough the stuff still in the way. These other experiences or opportunities can feel like roadblocks or failures. They can feel like confusion and totally defeating dead ends. Believe me I know! And it's easy to forget that it's all happening for a reason and so much more is happening in the invisible. It's not always easy. It is always beautiful if you're willing to feel what needs to be felt, see what needs to be seen and hear what needs to be heard. If you're feeling ready to access more of this invisible perceptive power to breakthrough blocks and align with even greater potential, please contact me here for a 30 minute complimentary strategy session where we'll do a laser dive and uncover some of your next best steps to moving FORWARD with BELIEF, POWER and a deeper understanding of your gifts. You see, this realm of vision - you have and can hone- helps turn problems into opportunities. A skill required for the best life ever...because perceived problems are a certainty. Your gifts? Your unique gifts are your joysticks to navigate this invisible world of information, insight, intuitive knowing and perceptive power. We all have different gifts. Some may seem the same, yet our personal experience has given us different formulas to decode our gifts and therefore they take on a different flavor. Gifts coupled with your experience and your unique purpose plus your talent and uniquely honed skills create a unique and special formula for the impact you're here to have. Miracles large and small are available to us all the time. We need to see them, look for them, receive them, and at times ask for them. We need to understand and decode them, be grateful for them and gift them upon others...the more energy and focus we give to miracles the more frequent and potent they become for us as we live a life respecting the profound miracle it all is. Now... let me introduce to you a dear friend and colleague who to me is a miracle. Meriflor Toneatto published a book called, "Money, Manifestations & Miracles: A Guide to Transforming Women's Relationships with Money" and it's launching this week (March 6, 2018). I'm so thrilled for this book to get into the hands of all women who feel the power that resides in transforming their relationship with money. Our relationship with the currency of miracles may be good and solid. And then there is money. Money is a whole OTHER currency -and one of the most -if not THE most- prevalent forms of currency in our lives. I love cultivating a life where miracles are my currency...and no matter what I do, I can't deny that Money is a more prevalent currency and it's here to stay -in paper or bitcoin, it's still money. This powerful book explains how money is an “emotional currency” and it prescribes eight Holistic Principles that help you overcome deep-seated blocks, “pay forward” your own successes, and live the life of your dreams. http://a.co/8HytaHf Here's to Miracles, Money and Manifesting - and here's to Meriflor's amazing new book, Money Manifestations & Miracles. Have you ever lost someone's TRUST? Have you ever lost TRUST in someone? What an awful feeling when it's in business and not only did you lose trust, but you lost time, money, energy and your intellectual widgets! Picture trust as an invisible comforter keeping you warm and safe on a cold winter's night. Trust is built from love, caring, integrity, respect, reciprocity, and reputation. Sometimes you earned the reputation and sometimes you gained it by default association. Trust is a core thread in the fabric of humanity and it sucks (and costs money) when you lose it. I have a personal story to share about trust. Let's talk trust in business. Let's talk trust in marketing. Let's talk trust in relationships. Let's talk about proactive trust (written agreements) and let's talk about losing it. I was recently approached by someone I didn't know. I was invited to be interviewed in their online summit and was transparent that I didn't have the requisite # of people on my email list so I may not be a fit. The young woman asked that we set a time to speak on the phone to discuss my corporate leadership coaching and training work. She was interested in a possible collaboration. I said yes and thought I'd start my due diligence on that call. (Not best idea) On the phone she told me the coach and team she works with were answering their first RFP (request for proposal) - for a large corporate coaching and training contract and would be needing professionals with whom to collaborate. She painted the picture that I would be perfect for parts of the work. Straight off she lacked logistical understanding of how to structure a partnership or joint venture - duly noted. I recognized how little business experience she had in this realm and was kind of surprised she expected me (or anyone) to share my intellectual property for the RFP without a contract in advance. I suggested that her boss contact me to discuss how my law firm Trager Law PLLC could help so they can build a professional foundation for this and future ventures. She said they didn't have the budget for that. Meanwhile, the online summit she invited me to speak on was to do with millionaires, abundance and prosperity (head scratch). *I SHOULD HAVE DISCERNED RIGHT THERE BUT I MADE A MISTAKE! The woman who was my contact was super kind and personable and asked if I knew anyone certified in a certain training modality because the RFP called for a practitioner with that expertise for a minimum of a certain number of years. Hmmm social capital request.... The contract would have been a hearty six figure deal, "with plenty of abundance for all participants..." I reached out with a call to a group of professionals (HIGHLY SOPHISTICATED) for someone with this certification. I received a response quickly, we spoke, I told her I don't know these folks, I wasn't sure on their expertise, they were picking my brain, and said it is in your court if you want to give it a go. I truly wanted to pass on this opportunity to someone in my community and let them decide. *I SHOULD HAVE DONE MORE DUE DILIGENCE BEFORE REFERRING A PROFESSIONAL RESOURCE -(SOCIAL CAPITAL) EVEN WITH MY DISCLAIMER I made the introduction. Shortly after the consultant came back to me perplexed at how things were flowing and the sorely missing professionalism that was costing her time and intellectual widgets, I again said, I really didn't know them. Based on what I understood, the deadline was passing and I didn't realize how much work she had already done for them at that point. *I ASSUMED THE CONSULTANT WAS PULLING OUT AT THIS POINT BECAUSE I THOUGHT THE DEADLINE HAPPENED AND SHE WAS FED UP. So the consultant (who I referred) came back quite angry after many failed attempts to steer the other folks in a productive direction She was totally right. They were using her knowledge, experience, intellectual property and credentials to create this proposal without remuneration if the contract wasn't won and they did not show up as promised. *THERE WAS NO CONTRACT. If you're going to do a joint venture, do not begin giving your side of the value unless you protect yourself, your rights and the outcomes you desire- no matter how much you trust. Never wait for someone else to give you a contract no matter which side you're on. If you're representing your business as a vendor, partner, participant, speaker, joint venture,... set YOUR terms up front in writing. If they do happen to give you a contract, you can always negotiate and use it as a base for forming your own terms. BUSINESS IS TRICKY THAT'S WHY IT'S CALLED A GAME. We want to trust others, give the benefit of the doubt and hope for the best. It's uncomfortable when we're having a great conversation and flow is there, to pause and say, "I'll send over an agreement shortly since I have to follow my business policy or my board will not be happy with me." WHEN UNCOMFORTABLE SETTING BOUNDARIES BLAME IT ON YOUR BOARD. Your board may be your alter ego who will surely give you sh*t later if you don't follow the policy so blame it on the board! What happened? Well the high vibe message of abundance and prosperity was certainly not conguent. The consultant I referred ended up giving so much time, expertise and energy in good faith intent that the others would show up and do their part, that when they continued to miss deadlines and fail to show professionalism along the way, she decided she didn't want her name on the RFP. I WOULDN'T EITHER. She asked that they remunerate her for the value they did receive in the process. They declined saying that they didn't have that agreement. Well, I'll save the loop hole here (it's a secret for now). Instead I'll share the following tips in case they may be useful to you. TIP #1: Do your due diligence before referring a professional resource if you value that relationship, your reputation and social capital. TIP #2: Take responsibility for your part in the game because it takes all involved to create the situation and we all have something to learn. TIP #3: Be Congruent in your business practices when it comes to reciprocity so they match your marketing message. I've seen time and again spiritual / personal development coaches and mentors just not 'do the right equitable thing' because of a contract or lack thereof. RECIPROCITY is the FOUNDATION OF MINDFULNESS AND THE BEDROCK OF TRUST. TIP #4: Never give your time and value away assuming others will value it without having a contract from the start covering all bases and possible outcomes. I'm guilty of this too, it's not easy when your words are your widgets! Building this boundary feels amazing and being prepared in ADVANCE with a tool box of agreements does wonders! (we can help you with that) TIP #5: Never refer someone even if you disclaim up the wazoo that you 'don't know them and it's up to you" without doing due diligence (I usually never do this and I learned a big lesson here) TIP #6: Be the master and listen to your gut early on. People teach you who they are and how they operate right up front. They can be awesome and truly kind which makes discernment a bit tricky. Learn that feeling you get, and listen for it. As the great guru of mindfulness Thich Nhat Hanh says, "The master can see if the student is or is not awake. If for example the student shuts the door noisily or carelessly he is demonstrating a lack of mindfulness." If you have the same experience of frustration, friction, resistance and NO FLOW, more than twice, figure out how to salvage your time, costs and exchange, (even pretend you're still on board) then end it! *Know when to cut your losses! and trust when you can get them back. (we can help you here) TIP #7: Contracts make life easy, but don't assume because you don't have a document that you don't have a contact! Sometimes that's the furthest from the truth! Recourse comes in a few flavors. TIP #8: If you feel burned in business, talk to a business lawyer or business coach with experience in negotiations. Everyone has a different idea of what's going on and a document makes the whole darn thing better! I share this not to speak negatively about anyone. It's really just a good set of facts for all to learn from- and in law and business school (and life), we learn with sets of facts. Borrow my learning from this lesson. In my opinion, mindfulness in business means doing the right thing to create an equitable and fair solution for all. That right there is the best kind of prosperity. Every once in a while a giant boulder shifts and a billion little rocks are influenced. They roll from their comfortable home nestled in the dirt, rumbling and rolling until the the avalanche begins. Some things die in its wake and the landscape is forever changed. What was the catalyst? One event or the cumulative effect of many? YOUR LIFE GAME CHANGER Superimpose this analogy on your life. What event will change it all? What shift will be your game changer? I'll come back to this in depth on my Facebook Live event next week... (see below for details!) We can also superimpose this analogy on the world. Our world is experiencing what I call a Consciousness R-Evolution. The cumulative effect of an avalanche of individuals willing to do their own personal work, inner healing and deep inquiry into purpose, who we really are as souls and the meaning of life, has created new levels of connection and awareness that are changing the game. ECONOMIC GAME CHANGER We are hitting a stage of critical mass where 'purpose,' 'social good' and 'environmental awareness' are all becoming mainstream concerns. From mass awareness of climate change to the mainstream conversation of sustainability and corporate social responsibility... It wasn't always this way. It's happening because WE are becoming more self aware. Who knew the self help shelf would be the catalyst? As we learn how to change the stories of our personal lives and increase our awareness and impact as global citizens we realize we can (and ought to) change the story of the world. ENTER THE CEO OF BLACKROCK Today Larry Fink, Chairman and CEO of BlackRock, a multi trillion dollar behemoth of a financial investment firm wrote a letter to the heads of the largest companies in the world essentially telling them, “To prosper over time, every company must not only deliver financial performance, but also show how it makes a positive contribution to society.” You and I may know that but this is a sea change for corporate America. Fink is a boulder. YOU CAN LEVERAGE THIS CHANGE While companies have been dealing with the growing pains of sustainability and corporate social responsibility (the rippling waves in the sea change) they've also been taking turns with their comfy blanket principled in the free market economy, namely, an economy with no regulation where profit is the only concern. Still a shift toward a more purposeful culture has long been underway. Private equity institutions have also been expanding in their commitments to responsible investing and holy moly - the mainstreaming of ESG has been waiting for day like today, for a boulder to make its move. *ESG stands for environmental, social and governance factors on par with financial performance as indicators of a company's value) "We also will continue to emphasize the importance of a diverse board. Boards with a diverse mix of genders, ethnicities, career experiences, and ways of thinking have, as a result, a more diverse and aware mindset." Larry Fink, CEO BlackRock "AWARE MINDSET" because that's the true game changer. To all of us who work in the field of personal development, corporate consulting, law, finance, non profit - or work in corporatations, Fink's remarks act as that giant builder that CAN influence a billion rocks (pun intended). We are the momentum, the force behind, the rumblers and rollers, the guides of the avalanche. We are needed more than ever to step in and lead, guide and teach. Our influence on the new dream is more important than ever because what we know about the mainstreaming of anything -it gets watered down. The potency drops and the depth distorted. Whoever leads the change embeds the instructions. THIS IS OUR TIME We are needed to train, coach, teach, guide, lead, speak and create the curriculum for the consciousness revolution. Are you a leader of the Conscious Revolution? If this speaks to you then please join me... This Friday January 19th at 2:00 pm Eastern Time on a Facebook Live. (Like the page for updates) "Leveraging and Steering the Consciousness Revolution" *Use this meeting planner for your time zone I'll be talking about the CONSCIOUSNESS REVOLUTION, what it is, what's influencing it, how it's impacting your emotional compass right now and how you can use your business, platform, work or philanthropy to influence the outcomes we are collectively 'hoping' to achieve. If you're a leader in the corporate space are you aware of this radical shift in your team and how is your organization responding to the deeper needs of a workforce craving depth, truth, transparency, mindfulness, purpose, and connection? I'm asking you to please come and participate, let's discuss this together... your comments are so important! One of my coaches once said, "Hope is not a strategy." I've rarely used the word 'hope' since. But one thing I know for sure, is that when I was a forest activist in the 1990's living in ancient redwoods and taking a total stand for my beliefs, if I didn't have hope, there would have been no hope! There was no such thing back then as ESG! WHERE'S YOUR SEAT AT THE TABLE? Hope is an essential ingredient AND we need a strategy to insert ourselves in the dialogue, the unfolding of how companies behave in our world, on our earth. We have to make our seats. There is great opportunity and I want to open the dialogue on leveraging it to change the world. A few things are first required of us... come join me and let's explore this together. (prayer) I am choosing to create a beautiful experience this month. I am seeing so many opportunities to share love and meaningful connection with important people in my life and every human I encounter. I’m psyched for you December. In you I get to reflect on the past year, what I accomplished, what I wanted to, yet didn’t do and why, what there’s still time to do... What are my priorities now.... I am choosing to let go of the energy from 2017 that will not serve me in 2018. I'm choosing to create from the most divine and powerful place inside of me.
